AUGH! CONVENTION!

So much to do before I leave for the convention tomorrow. convoy and myself will be there Tuesday, picking up Steve Bennett early Wednesday morning from the airport and driving him around for the day and then Thursday is when everyone else officially arrives, like Gus and Geoff from Red Vs. Blue - which means I have to appear at the airport once again since they're my friends, but it'll be good (especially at Hogs & Honeys later that night with ferchrissakes with me). Friday and Saturday mean I'll be all over the place, especially hosting things... so anyone who's planning on coming to the convention for a day or two ought to show up on one of those two days for some of my events, at least (though this year I'm doing Draw or Die! as a contestant so I might actually have something to do on Sunday as well, provided I make it that far). Monday we take the guests around town before they all depart on their respective planes and after that...

...well, after that, I start working on next year's convention.

Phew. This is going to be a hectic (yet extremely fun) week.

And this last weekend was good. Friday night was going out for some drinks with Ben and hanging out with Eric and Christina as well... which turned into Saturday's meeting, Sheraton hotel tour and walking around Woodfield with convoy and Randall and dinner at Stir Crazy, as usual. Oh, we got Sam her nurse's uniform while we were there, too... which turned into Saturday night's graffiti party at Leah and Mikel's (so... many... toys - with exceptional tagging to boot) with a party of James, Randall, Ben and myself.. which turned into Sunday's breakfast excursion with Christina, Ben and their friend (David? I am terrible with names.) and the middle Eastern bakery... which was ultimately a rather slow day involving a Reactor site update and some design with Christina.

A relaxing weekend, for sure. I hope for more like it. Very... comfortable.

Resident Evil : Apocalypse

Personal opinion here, but I thought Resident Evil : Apocalypse was excellent, especially for a video game based movie.

Went out and saw it with a group of 10 people of which I knew about half of from various video game retail stores in the region.

Verdict : Needed more blood - BUT it's entirely better than the first one, and...

They kept the same girl that was the Red Queen in the plot [ Angela ] - I got my stupid Nemesis saying "STARRRRRS" scene - they did the explosion due to gas (though originally it was to Nemesis in a [bar?] and not some dogs) - I got Jill and Oliviera and Ivan and and and... granted, I was less than pleased with the lack of blood but there was more than enough people-eating to make up for that (especially with grade school children mauling the would-be-Emmy-winning reporter) - and Nemesis turning good? I could have done without that - but at least they gave him some sort of reason for eventually turning to help Alice out of City Hall. Overall? A+ happy I saw it would watch again. I'm still quite pleased with this movie. Yes indeed.

A thank you to everyone in the last entry - apparently the domain has expired, the only problem being that it will be kind of a pain to figure out who it was registered through since I no longer recieve notifications from them, apparently. So I've now seen Fudoh and Beyond Re-Animator courtesy of sammael... I'd watch Fudoh again anytime just to see the sequence involving poison and, well, what price wouldn't I pay for the Beyond Re-Animator DVD to see the music video on it (holy crap) and the epic battle between a phallus and a rat.

We're still not exactly sure how that ends. What we do know is that the Magic Bullet looks to be one of the single greatest inventions of the century and the lady on Ambush Makeover (I believe) is full of shit.

Friday morning I had an interview at Morgan Express, a Chinese-owned shipping company that works with customs quite a bit - they photocopied my license and information on-site and the interview seemed as if it went well (the man was very friendly with me and was making a point out of saying that most of the people he was interviewing wouldn't even get to fill out the actual application which he handed to me when I sat down) and I should know later this week. Granted, the job is in Bensenville (yech, what a haul) but it'd pay well enough that I could commute for a while until I can find a friend to get a place with. Who knows... just a thought, anyways.

Friday night was, obviously, FNM. My deck did poorly but I haven't had any time to play with it at all since apparently Thomas's schedule conflicts terribly with mine at this point. He's busy swooning, anyhow - ooh la la.

Saturday was people not calling me when they were supposed to, listening to the Gary Air Show (can't really avoid it when you live that close to the Dunes), watching some of the I Love The 90s and A to Z on VH1, catching part of Sci-Fighters (starring none other than Roddy Piper who gave us hits like Hell Comes to Frog Town) and eventually stopping at the mall for a bit and Buffalo Wild Wings to play trivia before going to Niles. The night became Super Jinsei 2 (it's the Japanese version of the Game of Life - which happens to be much harder when you can't really read much of anything) - which brings me to...

Sunday, which ended up with us going to Woodfield and eating at Stir Crazy (if you weren't aware I make super-tasty stir frys) while playing Super Jinsei 3 before I went home and read for a while.

And now I'm at my internship after having had cherry tomatoes for breakfast and dry cereal for lunch (???).

I think I will go to the Salvation Army before I go home and do laundry and stuff so I'm ready to visit Madison, Wisconsin for a day and a half. Exciting, no? At least I'm not the one driving there.

P.S. Whoever else uses this computer has half fantastic half utter garbage taste in music. I could take the Demogorgon without the Eminem.

Last night my mother called me as I was driving home from Niles to inform me of the fireworks going on at the Greek Festival at the church across the park from our home. I found this a very pleasing idea and went over to her place, showered and went out in the yard with them to watch. Great show until one of the fireworks fell over and launched towards a crowd of people and ended up hitting the trees and house behind them, about three houses down from ours. Whoops. At least no one was hurt and it caused a very small fire they were able to extinguish without any sort of assistance.

On the bright side, mom got me baklava, I picked up an old Polaroid of Tina and an old, beat-up Cure t-shirt that I love.

Just talked to my Uncle Gary on the phone for a few minutes to say hi and get his address so we could mail a DVD to him from Mode.

So, Tina died. In a t-bone car accident as a passenger - and now that I think about it, what with the timing, I was less than half a mile away from the accident. She never even turned 21... her birthday would have been on July 26th.

My mother had the nerve to tell me that I didn't care because she thought I didn't sound upset on the phone.

Right, as if I wouldn't be upset about someone who was my best friend (even if we didn't really talk recently) died a violent death consisting of blunt trauma.

Hopefully I can find some of the comics we drew with Dan (fnfal) in the art classes in high school. I think I have them in a binder at my mother's with some other old drawings.

I remember things that no one else would. Sitting around in Grimmer Middle School in Nirvana shirts playing crappy Christmas songs on the jukebox in the middle of spring. Moping around about Kurt Cobain's suicide and the lack of Nirvana following. Singing Turnaround. Straightening her hair (she hated her current haircut) and doing her makeup and loaning her a shirt for the Fourth of July fireworks display we went to in 7th or 8th grade. Birthday parties at the Radisson Hotel / Star Plaza. Throwing Skittles at the heads of guys we thought were cute in the lunchroom (Stephen, mostly... the Skittles seemed like they just disappeared into his hair. You never saw them fall out... really quite creepy.) I think we did that with Twizzlers, too (but only the Pull-n-Peel kind). The pre-dragon pre-dinosaur unicorn phase. Her crayon (or was it colored pencil?) drawings of Magus from Chrono Trigger. Talking her through her tumultuous relationship with Nick. Just dumb... little... things. When she started dating Nick is mostly when the communication between us deteriorated. We grew apart. I ran into her at the mall once or twice... gave her my number but she never used it.

If anyone tells me I don't care that she's gone, you're out of your mind. I missed her the minute she stopped talking to me in high school.

Tonight I went 1-2-1 (W/L/T) at FNM. I also traded extremely well tonight and got a ton of cards. Hoorj!

I also saw Julie Bonnema tonight when Tom and I stopped at Super Wal-Mart, which was rather nice as I haven't seen her for years (probably since one of the ecesis.org parties at Tam's house in Highland) and since time has passed we seem to have more to discuss in general... swell kid, lemmetellya (not that she's not older than me). Exchanged cell numbers and everything too.

Tomorrow is a Anime Reactor meeting and a concert of Mr. konamicode's, as well as one of alphabasic's... cheeseb0y and I have places to be and people to see, so to speak.

Ah, and talk has begun with Mr. Vespo pertaining to a possible movie watching extravaganza of sorts. That ought to provide for some entertainment for sure, since we both came to the realization that we have more in common than we thought we did, hence we have more to discuss in general. Which is pretty super, if you ask me.

The day wasn't half bad, if you ask me. Yesterday's merit was surely debatable, but today seems to have gone much more smoothly (well, for me, Thomas is still having car issues... as long as one of us has a working car it's not so bad though).

I think that now it is time for a snack and more card sorting. We sure do know how to party.

At least I wrote out an agenda of things to do tomorrow and reminders.

P.S. tonyvortex, do we get to hang out sometime? I'm just curious. :
